Bring back the republic

What's the difference between a democracy and a republic?

One answer: we started out as a republic. The American people chose the executors of a narrowly defined set of duties. We have devolved into a democracy, where the public not only chooses the executors of the duties, but empowers these executors to define the duties. This is why the majority of voters can inflict hardshipt on the minority, and why democracy is called the "tyranny of the majority."

Think about it. And remember that only Libertarians have the true desire to transform the government back into a republic.
