Biological warfare during the U.S. Civil War

I don't know if I was asleep on that day during U.S. History (I slept many days), but I just found out that biological warfare occurred during the Civil War. Of course, the main point of the article is that the peculiar genome of the agent made it amenable to biowarfare, and it wasn't until now that scientists were able to decipher it even though Hippocrates identified the symptoms over 400 years before Christ.

BTW, "glanders" rhymes with "Flanders." Homer would be happy.
